When it comes to choosing that perfect bridal attire there is no absolute. You can go for lehenga, you can go for saree, salwar kameez, laancha or really anything which you would prefer. Today a bride has various options from colors to style, from traditional to modern, from conservative to uber sexy. The pick is yours. Go wild. This can be very confusing sometimes and overwhelming as well. so what my attempt here is to categorize the options which at the least would make it a little simpler :)
Majority of brides want to go for a lehanga, so lets start with lehangas. Here are a few pictures which over the years from different events I've collected.
.
The focus here is the style of it all , you can for something very heavy like the first one or you can go for something a little more simpler and yet fun and elegant. The colors can vary from a range of pastel pinks and oranges to hues of blues and greens combined with reds and purples. There is really no set pattern but I feel if you keep the lehenga a little minimal with less work and let the colors do the talking then you can really go crazy with the jewellery. The last thing I want to look on my own wedding is a statue of gold, which I feel a lot of brides make the mistake on. If you load yourself with heavy lehenga with heavy dupatta and a lot of jewellary with a ridiculously big garland (which us indians brides have to have on) then there is no focal point. Its all a mess. So chose girls, either go heavy on the lehenga and keep the jewellary a little on the low side relatively or play up with the jewellary and colors and tone down on the work of your lehenga.
Another thing I have come across a lot of people complaining is the complexion of skin and the color of lehenga and if there is any set rule to that. There are always rules but the key is to find your own way. No matter what complexion you are girls , try out different colors and do mix and match. You never know what will suit you. Don't be afraid of maroon or scarlet or pastel pink or mint green. You can always work around it , if the skirt of your lehenga is one color you can always tone it down or enhance it with the color of blouse you chose or the color of dupatta. It really depends on the entire look rather the color itself. So dont be shy and when you are buying that dream outfit , try a as many stores as you like till you hit the spot.
As I come across more pieces I like , I m gonna keep adding, so do look back and let your imagination run wild.
